Cold Camping

Boy oh boy.  I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing camping experience.  Well, it didn't turn out that way.  It was raining on the drive up the mountain, but luckily it cleared enough to set up tents and sleeping arrangements.  The next day started out lovely, but soon turned into what I feared most would happen....SNOW!!!

It hailed/snowed for a good hour, and the kids, Loney, and I hung out in our tent.  Jordan and Melody even had a little nap.  I had decided after a cold night sleep, that I would clean up the van and let the kids sleep in the van, with either Loney or I sleeping in the front seat.  Loney took that upon himself, but I soon realized how cold of a night it was going to be..even with 2 down sleeping bags and a regular one around me, so I ended up in the van as well.

It wasn't all bad I suppose.  The kids were able to play and ride their scooters a little bit.  But next year will definitely be taking place later on in the summer.  I don't want a repeat of this year.  But at least I know I can set up and take down camp without the help of my more experienced parents.  Now to convince them to let me keep the Easy Up canopy.  Hmmm....

Getting Ready

Been working on getting things together for camping this weekend. I'm packing clothes today, going shopping for food tonight, and tomorrow will be spent packing the rest of the stuff. We head to Cedar Mountain on Friday morning to rain and snow!!! YIKES! I guess if worse comes to worse we just turn around and spend the weekend in a heated hotel room in Cedar.

WOOT!

I have always struggled with my weight. From the time I can really remember, I've had self esteem issues and just had a hard time. Well, I finally have found the motivation to get my life jump started in the right direction.

A month ago, my SIL Amy and I pledged to each other to stick to a exercise routine or pay the consequences. She suggested doing the Power 90 program 6 days a week, as well as walking around the block to begin with. If we didn't keep this routine going then we'd have to run around the property for every day we missed. I was not about to run anything. It was super hard to get going, but luckily I had my work out buddy to keep me on track. Even when she got bad sick for a couple of weeks, I still kept it going.

To date I've lost 10 pounds and a total of 6.75 inches from my body. (I posted 7.75 inches on Facebook...guess I need to go back to school and take some basic math classes. LOL)

My diet has consisted of consuming between 1200 and 1300 calories. I've tried to keep my food choices good ones, and have enjoyed looking for new healthy recipes to keep the monotony of my meals in check. I've wanted to cheat, but have kept my cravings in check as best I can. Even with birthday cake in front of me this past weekend, I resisted eating the whole thing. Ok, I had two pieces that I shared with Melody, but I didn't go back to any more the next day.

I feel different since starting out. I have a lot more energy then I've had in years. My body is getting more toned, and the workouts are beginning to get easier.  I'm proud of the accomplishment so far, and look forward to seeing what this journey will bring.

Truly Blessed

It's mother's day and I couldn't be more blessed to have Jordan and Melody in my life.  Who knows if the future will bring more children into my life, but right now I'm content.

I also am so blessed to have had a great example of a mother with my own, Happy Mother's Day Mom.

And to have found a man who's mother raised him to be honorable, I'm truly blessed to have become so close to her.  Happy Mother's Day Diana!

Student of the Month: April

I received a note home from school in Jordan's backpack.  It was from his PE teacher saying that Jordan was chosen as Student of the Month for April by him.  I was so excited for him, but couldn't say anything because his PE teacher wanted it to be a surprise at the assembly today.

At 2:00 Diana, Melody and I arrived at the school and went into the multipurpose room.  The kids filed in for the assembly, and the 2nd graders sang some songs from Sussical Jr. the musical.  Cute stuff.

Then it was on to announcing the Students of the Month.  Jordan was the last name called.  He jumped up from off the floor, and nearly skipped over to the principal.  Once there he stopped and raised his hands in the air triumphantly!  He was beaming with happiness.

I took some pictures but for some reason my photography skills were non-exsistant, and Jordan wouldn't hold still so this was the best picture I could get of him.

I let him have McDonalds for dinner as celebration for getting Student of the Month.  Here's a closeup of the medal the school gives out:

I'm so happy for him, and his doing so well in school.  Crazy to think that 1st grade is just around the corner.  Melody starting Kindergarten is just around the corner as well.  YIKES!  Guess it's time for another baby....NOT!!!

Everyone Knows it's Windy

Holy Wind Batman is all I can say.  It's blowing so hard, I'm afraid some trees might fall.  Hopefully it dies down soon, so I can enjoy spring for a few days longer before the summer heat hits hard.

Nothing of real importance going on around here.  I started working out on the 19th, and started eating healthier as well.  I'm doing fairly well, though I'm craving sweets like mad.  Maybe I'll need to save up some calories so I can indulge with a sonic blast or blizzard from Dairy Queen this weekend .  We'll see though.

I can't believe school is almost over for Jordan.  Only 5 weeks left, CRAZY!  Guess I should get busy and figure out what  activities I can do with the kiddos so they aren't at each other's throats or drive me crazy.  Any ideas would be most helpful.

Nothing Much

Really nothing much has been happening around here, hence the no postings for a few weeks.

Jordan had spring break last week, and though it was good to have him home and I was able to sleep in, he and Melody fought a good portion of the week.  I think Melody is spoiled having mom and dad to herself for most of the day.

It's hard to believe that summer break is just around the corner.  I'm not looking forward to the seemingly endless days of HOT, but that's why I have a sister with a pool!!

I'm just patiently waiting for school to be over so we can go family camping, and then plan what to do this summer with the kids.
