Nothing Much

Really nothing much has been happening around here, hence the no postings for a few weeks.

Jordan had spring break last week, and though it was good to have him home and I was able to sleep in, he and Melody fought a good portion of the week.  I think Melody is spoiled having mom and dad to herself for most of the day.

It's hard to believe that summer break is just around the corner.  I'm not looking forward to the seemingly endless days of HOT, but that's why I have a sister with a pool!!

I'm just patiently waiting for school to be over so we can go family camping, and then plan what to do this summer with the kids.

Spring has Sprung!

It's definitely been spring around here. The warmer temps, the grass and flowers in bloom

......the wind. Oh but I hate the wind! It was nice the other day though so I let the kids play outside for a while. It was nice to just relax and watch them draw with sidewalk chalk

and tend to my little flower garden.

My days have been filled with little moments like this.......

in between the moments of chaos and tiredness.

Been working on potty training with Melody.  It's actually going a little bit better then I expected.  She's wanting to sit on the potty at night, so I hope this will lead to her getting trained and more independent.

We had our P/T Conference with Jordan's teacher.  He's doing fabulous in school.  Mrs. Dale is so proud of his academic accomplishments.  He's reading at a 2nd grade level and is doing very well with first grade math.  She's hopeful he'll be able to go into a regular 1st grade class next year, so we're going to be working really hard on teaching him the correct way to behave in every situation.

I'm so proud of both of my kids, and I look forward to spending time with them next week when school is out for Spring Break.  And with the van fixed, I can actually do more things and take them more places without worrying about borrowing a vehicle.  WOOT!!!

Accomplished

I have one thing that I totally despise cleaning.  If I could hire someone to come  and clean it for me I totally would.  I HATE cleaning bathrooms.  It's the grosses thing in the world!!!  But it gets to a point that I just can't take it anymore and I just have to clean.  Tonight was that night.  I suppose if I a good housekeeper would just keep up with that particular chore then it wouldn't get that bad, but then again, I would have to find something else I totally despise to clean.

Global Warming?

I woke up to a most unusual sight.....SNOW!  How in the world does it snow in the desert in March?!?

It was coming down pretty good but slowed down long enough to get Jordan on the bus for school.  My poor tulips and daffodils...I hope they will make it through this freakish cold front.

It started snowing again just before Jordan got on the bus and the kids were trying to catch the flakes in their mouths.

Melody and I then got in the house, and the floodgates opened.  It's been snowing non-stop since coming in.

Loney will either have to call in to work, or leave super early since it's tire chains required to go over the mountain pass into Vegas so he'll need to go the long way around which can be just as bad.

If this is global warming, I'd hate to see how the world would look if it wasn't.

FUNtastic Friday

Well, maybe it's funtastic for someone in the world.  I on the other hand have no fun plans...yet.  Maybe I'll do a crafty thing with the kids, or maybe I'll just scrap.

I did get some good news the other day though.  Education.com wants to contract me for 2 months!  They emailed me 5 activities to work on and I couldn't be more excited!!  What an opportunity to hone my photography skills while enriching the lives of my children.  You can see my other photo on their website now after the Outdoor shot: Papier-Mache Bracelet

I guess I'd better get ready for whatever the day may bring.

Picture This!

Last year I discovered an amazing website with tons of activity resources that I could do with the kids over the summer.  Education.com has a vast amount of information for you to read about your children and developing their skills through birth and school.  I first joined because of a summer contest they were doing for prizes, but didn't get my act together to finish the challenges.

Next they hosted a Merit Badge challenge, and I was able to enter into that one and won UP! on dvd.

Then they had a photo contest where you took photos of you doing different activities, and I posted a couple and won some weekly prizes.

I received an email from one of the staff members after that particular contest was over saying congratulations on my weekly wins, and asked if I would be interested in becoming a photo contractor for them.  I was blown away by this offer, and said that I would be honored to help them.  So I was given my first couple of assignments and was able to get one of them done so far.  Well, my photo is now on their website to showcase the activity!  What an opportunity!

I'm hoping to be able to get the next one done this next week so stay tuned.....

Knock it off

I've made a happy little Internet discovery this past week.  I've been perusing it's pages every day dreaming of doing some or all of the projects and how they would look just perfect in my house.

Knock Off Wood is the name of my new indulgence.  Ana is the mastermind behind it all and I must say, she is a genius.  She creates plans for you to build your own knock off version of beautiful furniture created by the likes of Pottery Barn, Land of Nod, and other high end companies.  How fabulous is that!!!  AND she posts those said plans on her blog....for free!!  I have a hankering to build me some bookshelves for the kid's room as well as some for our office closet.  I guess it is yet to be seen if I'll be brave enough to do it...Stay tuned....
